Dr. Anna Konopka, an 83-year-old internist practicing in New London, N.H., a town of 4,000 residents, hopes to regain her medical license after it was revoked by the New Hampshire Board of Medicine. Without a computer, the Board contends that she can’t access the state’s mandatory drug monitoring program.

She disagrees. And so do many of her patients. Reporting our top story during the next edition of Monitor Mondays will be Denise Nash, a physician as well as a resident of New Hampshire.

The broadcast rundown also will include:

  • Monday Rounds: Ronald Hirsch, MD, vice president of R1 Physician Advisory Services, will profile his 2017 Hirsch Healthcare Heroes during his popular annual holiday segment.
  • Hot Topics: Monitor Mondays senior correspondent Nancy Beckley, president and CEO for Nancy Beckley and Associates, will have all the latest hot topics and the Monitor Mondays Listener Survey.
  • America’s Rural Health Report: Topic authority Janelle Ali-Dinar, vice president of rural health for MyGenetx, will report on saving healthcare for rural populations.
  • Risky Business: Healthcare attorney David Glaser with Fredrikson & Byron will have another example of a potentially troublesome issue that could pose a risk to your facility.
  • Focus on Drugs: Cotivity, a Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), recently added the auditing of Herceptin claims for excessive billable units. Originally audited by the Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Herceptin is back in the news again, as you’ll learn when Robin Zweifel, senior vice president of revenue capture at Panacea, reports on this development.
