Question:

For abscess localization studies, can we report code 78807—radiopharmaceutical localization of inflammatory process; tomographic (SPECT)—with 78805 (limited area) and 78806 (whole body)?

Answer:

Both SPECT and planar imaging may be coded when the planar imaging is whole body, so 78807 may be assigned with 78806 but not with 78805.
