More ICD-10-PCS Codes Released for April 2022

There are 200 new codes, 62 revised titles, and 107 deleted codes.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a new erratum for ICD-10-PCS on Jan. 12. Two additional procedure codes will be effective April 1, 2022. These codes have also been added to V39.1, Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs). The new codes are:

 XW023X7 – Introduction of tixagevimab and cilgavimab monoclonal antibody into muscle, percutaneous approach, new technology group 7; and

(Tixagevimab and cilgavimab monoclonal antibody is also known as Evusheld. This drug is used for treatment of COVID-19, and is not a substitute for a vaccine.)

 XW023Y7 – Introduction of other new technology monoclonal antibody into muscle, percutaneous approach, new technology group 7.

These new codes are designated as non-OR procedures for MS-DRGs.

With the latest release, there are 78,229 ICD-10-PCS codes for the 2022 fiscal year, beginning April 1, 2022. There are 200 new codes, 62 revised titles, and 107 deleted codes. The breakdown by section is listed below:

As of Oct. 1, 2021, the ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS sets will have two release dates. The first release will be Oct. 1 and the second release is April 1. The code changes will be requested through the rulemaking process, which includes the Coordination and Maintenance Committee Meeting. As a reminder, the next Coordination and Maintenance Committee meeting will be held on March 8 and 9. The agendas have not been published on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or CMS websites. Typically, these agendas are published a few weeks before the meetings.
