Laboratory Question for the Week of January 23, 2023

Question:

How does the Omnibus Appropriations Bill impact labs for this year?

Answer:

The fiscal year 2023 Omnibus Appropriations bill released December 19, 2022, included language that would delay an expected reimbursement cut of 15% for approximately 800 of the most commonly ordered laboratory tests. The House of Representatives and the Senate passed the spending bill and President Biden signed it on December 29, 2022. This provides another one-year delay for laboratories but is not a permanent fix.
