What distinguishes a Type 2 MI from a Type 1 MI, and how does it typically present on ECG?
NSTEMI Type 2 refers to a Type 2 myocardial infarction (MI) that presents without ST-segment elevation on the ECG (therefore an NSTEMI pattern). A Type 2 MI occurs when there is myocardial ischemia caused by an imbalance between oxygen supply and oxygen demand, rather than by an acute plaque rupture and coronary thrombosis (which is a Type 1 MI).
