Question:

Are there any code edits that we should be aware of when applying LT and RT modifiers?

Answer:

There are many ways in which modifiers may affect payment with different codes. The following edit is specific for the LT and RT modifiers. Disallow modifier 50/bilateral procedure, LT/left side, and RT/right side next to CPT® codes with the term “extremities” in the description. These modifiers are not required if the code descriptor indicates multiple occurrences.
