How does the HAC program help to lower hospital-acquired conditions?
Answer:
The Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program provides incentivization for hospitals to diminish the incidence of hospital-acquired conditions by obligating the Secretary to lower payment by one percent for applicable hospitals. These applicable hospitals are subsection d hospitals, which fall into the worst-performing quartile on specific measures of hospital-acquired conditions.
