When both tibial/peroneal arteries in both legs are treated for lower extremity revascularization, what modifiers would we report?
When tibial/peroneal arteries in both legs are treated, assign the appropriate initial artery code for each leg. Modifier 50 or 59 or another modifier would be added per payer guidelines. If assigning the add-on code bilaterally, report in units; do not assign modifier 50 to the add-on code. Look at the MUEs/MAIs for modifier application.
