Agenda Revealed: Coordination and Maintenance Committee Meeting

The tentative agendas for the Coordination and Maintenance (CM) Committee Meeting for Sept. 10 and 11 have been posted! The agenda links are listed under Resources below.

The CM agenda contains 40 topics and the addenda. The ICD-10-CM agenda contains topics that have been presented previously such as Baked Egg Intolerance and Ledderhose Disease (plantar fibromatosis). There are several items regarding genetic problems such as CACNAIA-NDD or DLG4-related synaptopathy or FOXG1 syndrome.

There are medication-related conditions such as xylazine-associated wounds, topical steroid withdrawal syndrome, and exposure to diethylstilbestrol. There is a new Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) topic being introduced regarding utility insecurity. The topic of postprocedural open deep wound will also be discussed.

The PCS agenda contains eight subjects plus Section X updates, addenda, and Definition Key updates. There are two requests for April 1, 2025 implementation and two requests for New Technology Add-On Payments (NTAPs). The tentative PCS agenda includes administration of Roctavian™. There are two heart procedures: transcatheter bypass of left atrium to right atrium via coronary sinus and insertion of heterotopic bicaval valves into right atrium. There is also a temporary procedure: temporary transvenous diaphragm activation. The remaining items include the following:

  • Insertion of endovascular anchors
  • External fixation with automated shunt adjustment
  • Extracorporeal interstitial fluid removal
  • Intraoperative donor organ protection in renal transplantation

There are two additional therapeutic agent topics under consideration, but they will not be discussed. The information will be available on website for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CM meeting will be virtual, and you must register in advance to attend the meeting. There is no cost to attend. The meetings are recorded so that it is possible to review the code presentations of past meetings.

The virtual meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time (ET) and end at 5:00 ET with a 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. ET lunch break. The meeting will begin with the procedure proposals which will be led by CMS. The presentation of the diagnosis proposals will follow the procedure proposals. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will lead the diagnosis portion of the meeting. There are no final decisions made during this meeting. The final decisions are made by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The deadline for submitting comments on the procedure proposals requesting April 1, 2025 implementation is Oct. 11. The deadline for the proposals requesting Oct. 1, 2025 implementation is Nov. 13.

Comments should be sent to ICDProcedureCodeRequest@cms.hhs.gov. The comment deadline for diagnosis proposals was not posted but will be similar to the procedure deadlines. Comments on diagnosis proposals should be sent to nchsicd10cm@cdc.gov.

Dec. 6, 2024 is the deadline to submit ICD-10-CM proposals for the March 2025 Coordination and Maintenance Committee Meeting. Send proposals to nchsicd10cm@cdc.gov.
