Question:

In last week’s question and answer, you mentioned that venipuncture is commonly collected in the respiratory therapy department. What is the Medicare payment for this procedure?

Answer:

For 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have again assigned 36416 (collection of venous blood by venipuncture) to status indicator “N,” which means that, as usual, it is packaged.
